Terms and Conditions

THE DOG HOUSE – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.   YOUR PET’S HEALTH AND WELFARE:
By attending your appointment you the owner confirm that your dog is fit and healthy. Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner’s risk. We retain the right to terminate the groom at any point if we believe your dog is unwell or getting too stressed, please be aware you may still be liable for the cost of the groom. We do not take responsibility if your dog develops allergic reaction to shampoos, conditioners or any other grooming products. (Please do inform us of ANY irritations as there are measures we can implement to minimise certain factors)

2.   GROOMERS SAFETY
We reserve the right to muzzle your dog if it represents a danger to us. Any dog that shows aggression to groomers or other dogs will not be accepted for grooming. Please let us know beforehand if your dog has behavioural problems. We cannot be held responsible for injury that your dog may inflict upon themselves whilst trying to remove the muzzle. We retain the right to terminate the groom at any point if we believe your dog poses a threat to any of our groomers, please be aware you may still be liable for the cost of the groom.

3.   GROOMING ACCIDENTS
Accidents can unfortunately happen, we use very sharp professional scissors and clippers on a moving object (your dog) every precaution will be taken to prevent any injury. If an accident occurs in which your dog needs veterinary care, a full investigation will take place, please be aware you MAY be liable for any costs if it is discovered the reason for injury is due to neglect of the coat or your dogs behaviour. We can’t be held responsible for injury to eyes due to hair getting in to the eyes during or after the groom.

4.   NEGLECTED & MATTED COATS
We do not accept liability for any conditions arising following the clipping of a matted dog. This can include irritation, redness or nicks. Conditions can begin underneath knots and mats which will only be seen once the knots and mats have been removed. We will advise you if we feel a vet needs to take a look. Be aware it will feel odd to your dog to have all these knots removed so please be vigilant in the days following a clip off to prevent any unnecessary injuries occurring from scratching after a clip down.

5.   EAR PLUCKING
Removing the hair within you dogs ears can irritate the delicate skin of ear canals and lead to ear problems. I only pluck ears if it is requested by the owner, and the dog is in the salon frequently enough. I will advise to seek veterinary advice if there are issues present.

6.   ANAL GLANDS
We only express the anal glands if it is requested by the owner. Anal gland expression should only be requested if you have been referred by a veterinary practice or you believe that your dog is in some discomfort due to their glands being full. We cannot accept liability for any conditions arising following the expression of anal glands.

7.   FLEAS/TICKS
If your dog is found to have fleas and we have not been informed by you the owner, there will be an additional cost of £10 to pay for the products required for us to treat the salon. If you have informed us beforehand there will not be an additional fee as we can put procedures in place to prevent cross contamination and take extra steps in the bathing process to maximise the effect of washing them all off the dog.

8.   TEETH CLEANING
We cannot accept liability for any conditions arising following a teeth cleaning session. Removal of thick tartar build up can reveal underlining issues like cracked or wobbly teeth. We can refuse to clean your dog’s teeth and refer you to the vets if we believe veterinary intervention is needed.

9.   TIME KEEPING
We work by appointment only. Please be punctual. If you are more than 10-15 minutes late, your appointment will be rescheduled. Upon drop off you will be advised a rough collection time (most grooms usually take 1.5-2hrs) you will receive a text 15min before they are ready for collection, please collect promptly. If we have to look after your dog longer than 30 minutes after your collection time you will be charged.

10. CANCELLATION
We request 1 day (24 hours) notice if you need to cancel your appointment. If you cancel less than this then I cannot re-book you an appointment unless you pay a non refundable deposit.

11. PAYMENTS
Please pay by cash or card on drop off or collection of your dog. BACS (Bank Transfer) are no longer accepted.

12. GROOMING FEEDBACK
We welcome your feedback good and bad. If you are happy with your groom why not leave us a review on Google or Facebook? If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your dog’s groom, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try our absolute to best resolve any issues.

13. PHOTOGRAPHS
Your dog/s may be photographed or videoed before, during and after their groom. Photographs may be used on our website, social media or other printed materials.
